Sherwin Mariano was born in the slums of Manila, the eldest of eight children. He was one of the first sponsored through International Needs in the Philippines. Although graduating as a teacher, Sherwin now works for International Needs helping others in the slums where he still lives and is a leader in his church.

A grand-daughter of a Hindu priest, Rebecca was born into a very poor family in the mountains of Sri Lanka. She and her brother were fostered into the loving family of Cynthia Devadason, the current director of International Needs Sri Lanka. Rebecca now leads the team that impacts the lives of more than 700 struggling children at the Harrison Child Care Centre in the slums od Colombo.
